Early Diagnosis and Treament for Macular Degeneration and Glaucoma are CRUCIAL to help save vision
Two of the leading causes of blindness in our country are macular degeneration and glaucoma. As little as five years ago, there was little or nothing that could have been done with macular degeneration to prevent a loss of vision.
Current research indicates how critical it is to make an early diagnosis and institute early proper treatment for both macular degeneration and glaucoma in order to prevent a loss of vision. Early treatment can often create an improvement in vision that has begun to deteriorate.
That is why we have invested in such pieces of equipment as:
~ the OCT to measure the thickness of the macular region in microns
~ The GDX to measure the thickness of the nerve fibre layer.
~ The Pascal Tonometer to measure the true intra ocular pressures.
~ The PHP to monitor subtle changes in the macular and sub macular circulation
~ The finest retinal and anterior chamber cameras, to monitor subtle changes.
~ The state of the art instrument to measure possible visual field loss.
It is our goal to help all of our patients see as well as humanly possible ... for the rest of their lives.
